Meet Melva Akens

Melva Akens

Melva Akens, etiquette and styling expert has serviced a diverse portfolio of clients including corporations, professional associations, educational institutions, summer camps and private clientele to name a few. Her exciting message and creative techniques on fine-tuning your social skills are priceless! She has empowered audiences with a motivational approach that carefully demonstrates the advantage of practicing etiquette everyday, and shares tips on the art of out-classing the competition.

Recognizing the lack of civility, and having a sense of purpose and urgency, she was alarmed with the overt levels of rudeness and purposely worked to inspire others to do better.

Akens is a Pepperdine University alumni, former retail buyer and current production professional. Her completion of etiquette and corporate and management training programs are with The Protocol School of Washington, At Ease, Inc., Carter-Hawley Hale Executive Training, Federated Department Stores, The Navy Resale System and the International Alliance of Stage and Theatrical Employees.

Former service includes: a founding board member of Women in Film and Television International; president of Women in Film & Television – Central Florida; chair of Program Development and Evaluation Committee (city of Winter Park, FL); and Global Peace Film Festival Development Director. Melva’s current memberships are Global Peace Film Festival board of directors, and member of Women in Film Atlanta, Georgia Production Partnership, The Links, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
